The Big Win Weekend
August 1 - August 3
We’re raising our glasses to a huge win at the 2025 Illinois State Fair Wine Competition! Our wines earned 16 medals, including 6 Gold & Double Gold medals and the Governor’s Cup Trophy for our 2022 Chambourcin Reserve. See all the results in our recent blog article. To celebrate, we’re hosting The Big Win Weekend, a three-day celebration filled with award-winning wine, music, and delicious bites at both the August Hill Tasting Room in Utica and Wine on the Hill in Peru.
AT THE TASTING ROOM (Utica) – August 1-3
- Enjoy glass pours and flights of the medal winners
- Try our Signature Tasting, where you can choose any wines you’d like, but we recommend sampling the 6 Gold & Double Gold winners! Wine Club Members receive a complimentary Signature Tasting
- Savor “The Gold Standard” – a scoop of whipped goat cheese topped with homemade tomato bacon jam, served with bread for dipping. It pairs perfectly with wine, including our award winners
- Meet the Winemaker – Mark Wenzel will be signing bottles on Friday, August 1, 4–6 pm
- Live Music on Friday, August 1, 3:30-6:30pm: Joey Figgiani
- Live Music on Saturday, August 2, 3:30-6:30 pm: James Herr
- Live Music on Sunday, August 3, 2:00-5:00 pm: Steve Sharp
AT WINE ON THE HILL (Peru) – August 2 & 3
- Sip on glass pours and flights of our medal-winning August Hill & ISC wines
- Enjoy The Gold Standard appetizer while relaxing on the hill and listening to live music
- Sparkling Cave Tasting on August 2, 12 pm – Bubbly Wenzel will lead you on this special tasting journey showcasing many of our winning sparkling wines
- Cave Tastings on both days – A guided tasting experience in our hillside cave, featuring at least 3 of our award-winning wines
- Live Music on Saturday, August 2, 1:00–4:00 pm: Those Two Guys + 1
- Live Music: on Sunday, August 3, 1:00–4:00 pm: John Swags
