]]> The LaSalle County Historical Society’s Annual Burgoo Festival returns to downtown Utica October 11 & 12. This much-loved event features shopping, food, music, and family fun throughout the village. The highlight is the festival’s signature Burgoo Stew—a pioneer dish slow-cooked outdoors overnight with beef, chicken, pork, vegetables, and even a splash of August Hill wine—available only on Sunday.

Saturday, October 10, 11am-7pm

  • Shop the Canal Market – Over 375 vendors set up in the Canal Market and around Utica. August Hill Winery will have a tent by the Canal Market and will be selling our canned wines and a couple of other favorites!
  • Savor delicious food options at the Burgoo Food Court
  • Sip on your favorite wines at the August Hill Tasting Room and enjoy live music by Joey Figgiani from 3:30-6:30pm
  • Catch additional live entertainment in Utica, 11am-6pm
  • See blacksmithing demos

Sunday, October 11, 9:00 am — 5:00 pm

  • Enjoy the Famous Burgoo Stew, available starting at 9am. The stew is cooked outdoors Saturday night for between 12 and 18 hours over a wood-burning fire, giving it a special flavor. Squads of volunteer vegetable choppers and kettle stirrers spend the night preparing this pioneer dish.
  • Stop by the August Hill Tasting Room, opening early at 9 am, for Mimosas, warm August Hill Spiced wine, and August Hill Chill wine slushies.
  • Browse 375+ craft and antique vendors, plus find August Hill Winery’s tent by the Canal Market, serving our canned wines and a couple of other favorites!
  • Live entertainment in Utica, 9am-4pm
  • Family fun with children’s games, Live BlackSmith Demos & more
  • 50/50 Drawing at 5:00 pm at Heritage Center front porch (tickets available at August Hill and other locations throughout Utica)

Step inside our working winery caves—built into the hillside—where your favorite August Hill & ISC wines are crafted and aged. Enjoy a guided wine journey with a small group (up to 20 guests, approximately 45 minutes), featuring six hand-selected wines and a signature tasting glass to take home. Along the way, enjoy a featured pairing of our Augie’s Blackberry wine with a chocolate bite.
Tickets are $30 per person; $20 for Insider Wine Club members (limit 2 discounted tickets per day).

Reserve a Spot:
Cave Tastings are offered seasonally on Saturdays and Sundays at 12 pm, 2 pm, and 4 pm. Space is limited, so we recommend reserving in advance. Click here to reserve your spot.

Stay for Wine on the Hill:
Make a day of it! Join us for Wine on the Hill before or after your tasting, depending on your time slot. Open 12–5 pm on Saturdays & Sundays, with live music from 1–4 pm. See our “Wine on the Hill” page for more information.

We’ll be joining in the witchy fun at our Tasting Room on Mill Street with a Witches Brew tasting and a Hidden Treasure waiting to be discovered. Stop in as you make your way through downtown Utica, enjoy a taste of August Hill, and see if you can find our hidden treasure!

About the Utica Witches Walk

The Witches Walk takes over Utica for a wickedly fun evening filled with Witches Brew tastings, small bites, hidden treasures, entertainment, contests, readings, shopping, and more at participating businesses throughout town.

You’ll need an official Witches Walk wristband to participate in the event activities. Advance tickets are $20 and include:

  • Official Witches Walk wristband
  • Commemorative wine glass
  • 5 tasting tickets

Additional tasting tickets will be available at check-in for $1.25 each. Advance ticket sales end at midnight on October 15. Tickets at the door are $25, if available.
